Cave Temple of the Golden Dragon

Wat Ban CaveThe Cave Temple of the Golden Dragon is set in limestone foothills, and is located about 5km south of the town center. Stairs to Wat ban cave lead into the mouth of a big dragon. There is a stone shaped like a woman inside the cave, and villagers believe that she is Ms. Bua Khlee, one of Khun Phaen’s wives in a historical Kanchanaburi tale.

Walking up through the Golden Dragon of Wat Ban Tham

The walkway up to the Wat Ban Tham Temple of the Golden Dragon is unforgettable. The cave itself takes you up through the dragon's belly. Before this, you climb a steep set of beautifully painted stairs, surrounded on either sides by artifacts. Once on top, the view extends in all directions. Behind the temple, you'll see rice fields as long as the eyes can see. And out in either direction are more temples, and beautiful views of the countryside. If you take the time to explore this area, you'll find that this is not the only cave temple.
