Bangkok - the capital of exotic Siam? The bustling metropolis of concrete, glass, and smog is home to over ten million people. It was established in 1782 following the Burmese destruction of the old capital Ayuthaya. Before departing to the North, travelers have time to visit the Grand Palace, the Banglamphu district, and the Chao Phraya River, which is the backbone of Bangkok’s labyrinth of canals.
