Local guides: Northern Thailand

I’d like to start this section off by paying tribute to our guides, who made our Thai experience that much more enjoyable by helping us traverse the various snake pits and mosquito nests we happened upon. Full of humor and always ready to converse and inform, these guides helped make us feel at home.
On our hilltribe trek in the North, our guides led us for four days and three nights, always ready to take the loads off our backs by doubling as porters. Along the way they picked up ingredients, such as ginger, for some of the delicious dinners they would prepare for us in the evenings.

Local guides: Southern Thailand

On the Southern portion of the trip the guides took us, via longboat, to our own little paradise island, where we would stay for three days and two nights. Once on the island, they would boat us around to various locations, spend time cooking lunch they had prepared for us, and go out fishing at night. On the first night they caught two giant barracuda, one of which was more than enough to feed the whole group. Particularly tasty was their homemade moonshine whiskey, which fueled our UNO games into the night.
