Rivers of Thailand

Bamboo RaftingThailand's rivers have played a major role in the country's cultural and economic development. In addition to being used for transport and commerce, festivals and ceremonies have evolved to celebrate their life-giving qualities. Intricate bamboo fish traps and hand hewn canoes are examples of some of the handicrafts the rivers have given rise to.

Rafting on Bamboo

Bamboo rafting is one of the more relaxing outdoor activities in Thailand, assuming you have a guide. if you don't, it can be fun and adventurous to try and guide your own raft down the river. The bamboo plant is used in so many ways, and takes years of care and nurturing by nature to grow into the strong pieces used to build and support a bamboo raft.

There are so many rivers and areas of water in Thailand that are raftable, that it would probably take several lifetimes to explore them all.
